Lotiang Ekutan poses for a portrait with one of his sons at his home in Turkana, Kenya.

Rebecca and her husband Lotiang farmed and raised livestock for several years, but more frequent and severe droughts attributed to climate change have made farming difficult. Through a CRS program—in collaboration with the diocese of Lodwar in Kenya—a new well equipped with a solar plumbing unit was constructed in Rebecca and Lotiang’s village. They can now access water to irrigate their fields and take care of their goats. They also learned new farming techniques through the program, such as how to grow kale, which they use to feed their family and sell at the market. Rebecca and Lotiang share what they have learned with others in their community so everyone can benefit.
