Sister Amira Tabet hugs a Syrian refugee student at the Community Center of the Good Shepherd Sisters in Deir-al-Ahmar.br/ br/ CRS partners with the Good Shepherd Sisters to provide educational opportunities to critically vulnerable families in 20 informal settlements in the Deir al Ahmar area of the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon.br/ br/ CRS and the Good Shepherd Sisters provide classes and after-school homework support for Syrian and Lebanese children. Students learn traditional subjects like math and science, and take part in sessions on peacebuilding. They can also receive hygiene education, emotional support and psychological counseling if needed. Most importantly, the center offers these kids an opportunity to be kids again.
