Maiduguri, Northeast Nigeria; families displaced by insurgency often arrive in host communities with no assets and spend months in leaky, unstable makeshift shelters. CRS supports households with materials, training and actual construction of transitional shelters. Background: The humanitarian crisis in northeastern Nigeria is one of the most neglected. Over 2.2 million people have been displaced as a result of the Boko Haram insurgency in northeast Nigeria. CRS provides food, shelter, WASH, and non-food items (NFIs) to meet the most urgent needs of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and overstretched host communities.
