Debit cards offer users more flexibility and autonomy in the way they access and spend aid money, CRS staffers say.

The CRS and Caritas Jordan debit card pilot program provides 1,800 Syrian refugees and vulnerable Jordanians with rental assistance. Since the Syrian war began, more than 9 million people have been displaced throughout the region, their lives upended. Millions have flooded into neighboring countries in whatÍs been described as one of the largest forced migrations since WWII.

Ahmed's family is among an estimated 600,000 Syrian refugees living in Jordan.
