A 7.8 earthquake with an epicenter between Kathmandu and Pokhara hit Nepal on April 25, 2015, destroying more than 100,00 homes and upending life for families in both urban Kathmandu and remote mountain communities.
Pictured: Scenes from around Ghayalchok after relief distribution. All individuals pictured benefitted from the project. Farmers are working quickly to plant before monsoon rains begin and practically halt farm work for several months. Families expressed repeated concern for how they will bridge the cash flow gap before harvest as they have either lost stored food or have increased expenses due to the earthquake.
Catholic Relief Services, the Caritas network and Caritas Nepal has rushed tarps, sleeping mats, blankets, hygiene kits and water treatment tablets to families in Gorkha district.
