CRS's Pro-Poor Passion Value Chain Development project is helping 450 smallholder households in Nicaragua increase their production of passionfruit, connect to markets, and ultimately earn more money.

Victor Manuel Rodriguez, 62, a participant in the Argidius Foundation-funded, Pro-Poor Passion Value Chain Development project. The project is helping 450 smallholder households in Nicaragua increase their production of passionfruit, connect to markets, and ultimately earn more money. Rodriguez, who lives in a community called Las Posos in the department of Matagalpa, Nicaragua, is a a relative newcomer to the crop, but has always wanted to grow passionfruit. He's a member of a 100-person cooperative. The Pro-poor project helped him build a storage unit for fertilizer and other supplies and helped him set up a drip irrigation system, which is sorely needed during the country's intensely dry months.
